ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Established to promote diversity of ideas and showcase the creativity of City University of New York’s emerging talent, the CUNY Film Festival offers fresh voices the opportunity to be heard.

As the only CUNY wide, student run film festival, we celebrate excellence in film and provide a platform for students and alumni to showcase their work. Since our inception in 2009, we have brought together filmmakers from CUNY’s senior campuses, community colleges, and graduate programs. The festival promotes creative collaboration of the larger filmmaker community and engagement with industry professionals. Last year more than 200 qualified entries were submitted, and the festival achieved a new level of recognition among CUNY’s talented roster of professional and amateur filmmakers. Now in our eighth year, the CUNY Film Festival continues to celebrate diversity of ideas and visions while recognizing excellence in production of the work of CUNY filmmakers.
